What could give RuPaul's Drag Race UK's upcoming royal challenge more of an official seal of approval than a real-life royal family member judging it on the show's panel?
According to host RuPaul, it almost happened after he invited Meghan Markle to take part in the new UK series - but she was very pregnant with Archie at the time. However, Mama Ru is hopeful that the duchess could be up for a guest judge role on a future episode if a second season is commissioned.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, RuPaul disclosed: 'The invitation is still open for season 2.'
He added: "Meghan's arrival in the Royal Family marks a whole new era. I like the way she challenges the norm."
RuPaul's Drag Race finally launches in the UK on BBC Three after ten years and 11 series in the US. Celebrity guest judges for season 1 include Cheryl, Twiggy, Andrew Garfield, Graham Norton, Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall, and Maisie Williams.
Drag Race UK's latest set of queens include Baga Chipz, Cheryl Hole, and Sum Ting Wong.
The first challenge on the show will feature the queens ruling the runway with two royal looks, so fans are expecting lots of nods to Her Majesty the Queen, and the Duchess of Sussex Meghan.
Meanwhile, judge Michelle Visage recently dropped a big hint that the UK version will be returning for a second season.
'Ru looked at me and said, "This is going to be on for such a long time",' Michelle told Gay Times recently.
When asked if that was confirmation of a second season, she replied: 'It bloody better be!
'There's a bunch of friends that couldn't [do the first season] because of their schedule, but that means... season two," she admitted.
'This is the first season, it's only going to get bigger and bigger and the guest judges will come banging on the door.'
RuPaul's Drag Race UK premieres 3rd October on BBC Three.
