Kate Middleton and Prince William are maximising their summer holidays by flying out to Scotland for a nice break before normal life assumedly resumes next month.

The Cambridge family, including the children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were reportedly spotted disembarking from a FlyBe commercial flight to Aberdeen from Norwich airport this morning (Thursday 22 August).

They are expected to then make the short journey from Aberdeen to join the Queen and Prince Philip in the Scottish royal residence of Balmoral.

In photos published on the Mail Online, Prince William can be seen carrying bags, accompanied by his two eldest children George and Charlotte.

Middleton is then seen walking behind, wearing a jumper and midi skirt, carrying their one-year-old child Prince Louis, accompanied by a nanny.

A passenger on the flight told the website: 'The family were sat right at the front.. no one knew they were on the flight.'

The family were last spotted together a couple of weeks ago when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a charity sailing regatta.

George and Charlotte watched the race with their maternal grandparents, Michael and Carole Middleton, before joining their parents afterwards where four-year-old Charlotte stole the show by cheekily poking her tongue out at photographers.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh spend their summer at the castle in Balmoral every year. In a 2016 documentary on the monarch, Princess Eugenie said it was where her 'granny' is her most happiest.

'It's a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there, where you just have room to breathe and run. It's the most beautiful place on earth. I think she [the Queen] really loves the Highlands,' she said.
