There have been some pretty strange Twitter challenges in recent history. Be it the painful cinnamon challenge, or the dangerous Tide Pod challenge, it turns out you can get people on the internet to do pretty much anything if you tell them it’s a 'challenge' and slap a hashtag on it.
Thankfully, the newest craze to sweep the web is a lot safer than some of the others, and its also kind of hilarious.
Last week Beyoncé and Jay-Z Knowles-Carter dropped their first ever joint album in typical Queen B fashion - totally unannounced.
Whilst all of Everything Is Love is available on Tidal, they released one music video to the public.
Available on YouTube, ‘Apeshit’ saw the Bey and Jay completely take over the Louvre museum in Paris, dancing in front of epic masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa, Nike of Samothrace and the Great Sphinx of Tanis.
Many cultural commentators noted what a positive effect their video could have on the engagement with art history by pop and hip-hop fans. However, we’re sure no-one predicted this:
Taking inspiration from a scene in which Beyoncé dances vigorously in a white, sculptural dress in front of The Winged Victory of Samothrace, many have taken to dancing around in a bed sheet, posting it on Twitter and hash tagging it #Apeshitchallenge because, why not?
Here are some of our favourites:
What are you waiting for? Grab that sheet and get moving.
