Despite all the glitz and glamour that you see posted all over Instagram, a model's life - even a Victoria's Secret model - isn't all A-list parties and an endless supply of beautiful underwear.
Models usually begin their careers very young and mostly have to work their way up by walking in countless shows, with sometimes exhausting frequency. In short, it can be tough.
When Victoria's Secret Angel Romee Strijd posted a picture of herself in her first ever modelling shoot and we saw the face of a very beautiful, but clearly extremely young girl staring back at us, we became more than a little interested to hear how the Dutch star had felt at the time.
You recently shared a photo of your first shoot - what would you say to your 14-year-old self now?
I remember being so nervous. I would tell her to enjoy every moment, stay true to yourself and don't try to fit in by being someone you're not. Embrace your uniqueness.
It's great to see what happens behind the scenes on your YouTube...
Yes, I wanted to show people what I really do day to day and how the travelling schedule really works. Now that I've started vlogging, I really enjoy watching the videos back myself, they're like little memories. We travel so much that I often forget those moments so it's good to have them documented.
There's been a lot of talk recently about how- how do you stay healthy during the crazy circuit of fashion shows?
It's all down to the people around me. I surround myself with positivity and only work with brands who are supportive and encouraging. Laurens, , is here today and has always been on the journey with me. He’s from my home country of Holland so he keeps me down to earth.
Would you say Victoria's Secret is becoming a more feminist brand?
VS has always been about helping women be their best selves and we [the Angels] have become even more of a girl gang. We really support each other. When we get together, it's a force to be reckoned with.
So what does femininity mean to you?
It's about a certain energy. I admire women who are down to earth and comfortable in their own individuality. To me, that's sexy.
How often do you go for a bra fitting?
I literally just had one! And I'm a different size than I thought. Women's bodies can change so much so it’s important to get measured every 6 months. It's also fun to try on new styles. You might be surprised by what suits you.
What are your latest favourites?
I wear different bras for different occasions, like a T-shirt bra when I’m chilling at home and want to feel as natural as possible. My favourite bra is Victoria's Secret, which I'm wearing now. The push-up bras are great for a night out.
