Do you ever find yourself exhausted with the infinite options of white jars and exceedingly complicated ingredients? Do you wish your skincare routine could just be more fun and less fuss? So do we. Enter the most exciting beauty brand of 2019: Squish.
Yes, you read that right. The super-cool, conscious new beauty brand masterminded by author, model and body positivity activist Charli Howard already has us eagerly clearing space on our bathroom shelves.
Squish’s aesthetic brings back the cherished memories of the early-tween beauty we loved so dearly in the 00’s- think clear lip gloss tubes and crystal hair bobbles for days.
Howard wanted to incorporate her advocacy for anti-body shaming into Squish and ensure the ethos of the brand was fun and inclusive. From the diverse range of models in the campaign photos, which aim to showcase real skin without any retouching, to the brand's Flower Power acne patches (because who wants plain blemish treatments when you can have one with diamonds on) we think she’s got it spot on. Pardon the pun.
Squish's debut collection includes their Cherry Eye & Cheek Mask, Jelly Lip Gloss, Flower Power Acne Patches, as well as a choice of two SquishKits which give you the option to trial multiple products for less £££. And they come with oh-so-instagrammable pouches so you can keep all your new faves together or take them to go. Bonus.
What’s more, all of the products are ‘paraben, sulphate, petroleum and perfume-free’, which means that even those of us with the most sensitive skin can get in on the fun.
So, does this mean we can have body positive skincare products, that look cute, and contain ingredients that actually work? Yes it does.
The Cherry Eye & Cheek Masks contain hyaluronic acid and collagen to moisturise and plump the skin, whilst the Flower Powder Acne Patches contain hydrocolloid, a blemish-busting ingredient that works its magic while still being gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Not to mention, all the ingredients are vegan and never tested on animals. Whoever said you can’t have your cake and eat it too obviously hadn’t tried Squish.
Even the infamous beauty vigilante @EsteeLaundry was sharing the love for Squish on a recent Instagram post, with a resounding echo of support from their followers. One user wrote, 'I absolutely love everything about this launch. Models and photography and mood = amazing. Products and packaging = so cute and playful and necessities everyone wants.'
The collection is currently only available to shop in the US, but Squish has announced that worldwide shipping will be available soon.
Expect to see cherry-masked selfies popping up all over the ‘gram in the very near future.
