Humour is widely viewed to be excellent medicine for both the mind and body. During the darkest, most traumatic and saddest moments of life, sometimes a joke or bad pun can spark a smile in the most unlikeliest of moments.

And that's exactly why one young woman from San Diego is using her wit to bag a date on Tinder.

Last year, 21-year-old Lauren (she declined to provide her last name) was injured in a moped incident which, she explains to , resulted in her flying off the vehicle, hitting a sign, and the loss of her right arm from the shoulder down.

'I was going pretty fast on a moped and lost control of it, and I hit the median in the road,' she explained.

'I flew off and hit a sign and it sliced my arm off. I stayed conscious the whole time.'

While her injury has undoubtedly changed her life forever, Lauren soon realised that a healthy dose of dark humour could help her cope with the emotional trauma from the incident.

'For a while, I wasn't okay with the jokes. But then I started telling the jokes, and it's kind of helped,' she told the publication.

In the last year, Lauren has purposely posted a stream of photos since her since her incident, explaining: 'I have never really hid it. People don't see that very often, so a lot of people DM me to tell me it's really helpful to them, people who are also missing limbs or are disabled.'

However, last week Lauren took to Tinder to write a bio 'to address the elephant in the room that I was missing a limb'.

Her bio reads: 'Hands down the best catch on Tinder. Face 10/10, Body 9/10, Personality 20/10, Arms 1/2.'

As a result, screenshots of the profile went viral on Reddit and Twitter as result of social media users embracing her humour and positive attitude.

'I got home pretty drunk, and I don't remember typing it up really,' Lauren revealed.

'I just woke up to someone DM'ing me a Reddit post asking if it was me, and I was like damn, I guess it is,' she added.

In the hours that followed, Lauren received numerous marriage proposals, declarations of love, and a social media following all wanting to date her.

'People always respond like, "Oh, I feel bad for laughing". And I'm like, "No! I think it's funny...I made it!"'

Let the dating commence, people.
