'Selfie' named word of the year

It's official

Here at LouisvuittonShop HQ, we love a good selfie. So much so, we’ve even gone and installed a photo booth in our office (it has a wind machine, FYI).

It seems we’re not the only ones who love a good self-portrait, as the term ‘selfie’ has just been announced as the Oxford English Dictionary’s word of the year.

Defined by the OED as ‘a that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website’, the word’s use has increased by 17,000% in the past year, according to research. (We like to think LouisvuittonShop has contributed to at least 15,000% of that rise.)

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to go throw some shapes in the #LouisvuittonShopphotobooth – stay tuned for the results…
